How to use it

  1. Choose your photo or drop it into the box. The first time, the tool loads a small AI model (about 16 MB).
  2. Wait a few seconds while it finds the subject, then pick a background. Fine-tune the edges or fix details with the Restore and Erase brush if needed.
  3. Download the result: a transparent PNG, or a JPG with a white, grey or black background.

How it works

The tool runs a small open-source AI model (U2-Net, Apache 2.0 licence) directly in your browser using WebAssembly. It estimates which pixels belong to the subject and makes the rest transparent or replaces it with a plain colour.

Because it runs on your device, there is no upload, no queue and no watermark. The trade-off is that a small model cannot match the largest paid cloud tools on difficult images such as fine hair, glass or cluttered scenes. For products on a plain background it usually works well.

For store listings, choose a white background and "Square canvas": the product is cropped to its edges and centred on a square image with a little margin. Read the product photo guide for tips.

Questions

How do I remove the background from a photo?

Choose your photo and wait a few seconds while the tool finds the subject. Then pick a background (transparent, white, grey or black) and download.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The background remover runs inside your browser, so your product photos never leave your device. The first use downloads the model (about 16 MB), and later uses are faster.

What photos work best?

Clear subjects on a plain, contrasting background: products on a table or sheet, clothes on a hanger, single objects. Busy backgrounds, hair, glass and very fine details can leave rough edges.

Can I fix mistakes in the cutout?

Yes. Use Restore to paint back parts that were removed by mistake and Erase to remove leftover background. The Edge slider makes the outline tighter or looser, Smooth softens it, and Undo steps back.

Can I use it for Amazon, Etsy or Shopify listings?

Yes. Choose a white background and tick "Square canvas" to get a centred product on a square white image. Check each marketplace for its current image rules, because they change.
