Why the sizes differ
Each passport office sets its own rules. The US uses a square photo, while the UK and Australia use the taller 35 x 45 mm format, and Canada uses a larger 50 x 70 mm print. Rules also change over time, so use this chart as a starting point and check the official page for your application.
