What converting does
A JPG has already lost some detail through compression. Saving it as a PNG keeps the picture exactly as it is now and stops any further loss when you edit and save again. It does not bring back detail that is already gone.
Convert in four steps
- Open the JPG to PNG converter.
- Choose one or more JPG files.
- The PNG files are ready right away.
- Download each one.
When it is worth doing
- A site or app asks for PNG.
- You plan to edit the image several times and want to avoid more loss.
- You want to place the image on a layered design where PNG is preferred.
What to expect
- Bigger files: a PNG of a photo is usually much larger than the JPG.
- No transparency added: the PNG will not have a transparent background unless you remove it in an editor.
