Why forms ask for 50KB
Government portals, exam boards and job sites keep upload limits small to save storage and to load fast on slow connections. A photo straight from a phone is usually 2 to 6MB, so it must be reduced about 40 to 100 times.
Method 1: use the free compressor
Open the compress to 50KB tool, choose your photo and download the result. It runs in your browser, so the picture is never uploaded. The tool finds the highest quality that fits under 50KB and shrinks the dimensions only if needed.
Method 2: crop first
A smaller picture needs less compression. Crop away empty background so the face or signature fills the frame, then compress. This often gives a clearly sharper result at the same size.
Method 3: change the format
JPG is the best format for photos. Screenshots and PNG files are much larger, so convert them with the PNG to JPG converter first.
Common mistakes
Saving a screenshot of the photo (adds blur), compressing an already compressed file many times (adds artefacts), and going far below the limit. Aim for about 45 to 50KB, not 5KB.
Checklist
Correct dimensions, correct format (JPG), under the size limit, face clearly visible, plain background, signature dark on white.
