Why size matters
Marketplaces compress and resize your photos. If your image is too small it looks blurry and the zoom feature may not work; if it is huge it loads slowly. Sizes below are commonly recommended values, but each site changes its rules, so confirm in the seller help pages.
Common recommendations
| Marketplace | Commonly recommended |
|---|---|
| Amazon | At least 1000 px on the longest side (for zoom), 2000 × 2000 px is a common target, white background on the main image |
| eBay | At least 500 px on the longest side; 1600 px is recommended for sharp zoom |
| Etsy | Wide photos of about 2000 px; many sellers use square images |
| Shopify | Square 2048 × 2048 px is a popular choice for consistent stores |
Resize to those sizes
Use the ready-made tools: 2000×2000, 1600×1600, 2048×2048 and 1200×1200.
Clean the background first
A plain white background makes products look more professional. Use the product photo background remover with Square canvas, then resize.
Keep the file small
After resizing, compress to keep pages fast, for example 500KB or 200KB.
Checklist
Right pixel size, square or marketplace ratio, plain background, sharp focus, no watermarks, file size under the limit.
